Set during the COVID-19 lockdown, Maalai Nera Mallipoo follows Lakshmi, a sex worker navigating isolation as her livelihood collapses and her world narrows. Her life revolves around her young son, Karna—the one relationship she fiercely protects. As the pandemic forces her to shift her work into the digital world, the fragile balance she has built between motherhood and survival begins to fracture.

Told with restraint and empathy, the film observes Lakshmi’s days through silences, routines, and small moments of fear and tenderness.
